Islands/Tummies - a series of graphics
monotype, second print, with added elements
2024
A pregnant belly doesn't fit in the bathtub. There's no way to hide it underwater, to dive. The belly sticks out, floats like a fragment of a large whale or like an island in the sea. And since it can't be hidden underwater, we become a walking island. Then this impression only intensifies in us. We give birth to a human being and, alone, at sea, we continue to be stuck with this new, unique inhabitant, completely glued to us. We settle on our new island in the middle of the unknown.
However, when we zoom out, we see that there are quite a few islands in the sea. As soon as we find the strength and space, we'll sail to visit, for coffee, for a walk, to draw together, cry and chat about poopies.
The traced bodies - mine and Stefan's, created shapes from which the graphics were created. Some of them resembled furry animals, which is why we glued eyes on them.
